Bartels will conduct an 8-hour course on the Bartels campus plus hands-on training and, upon completion, Bartels will assist students in registering with Hawkeye Community College to challenge the test for state certification. Bartels will offer wages during instruction time, pay one-time for testing, and employ graduates of the course. Develops a system of care that promotes sound and scientific infection prevent principles and practices. Infection Control Preventionist will work to decrease the incidence and transmission of infectious disease between residents, staff, visitors and the community.  Through strategic planning, leadership and consultation, Infection Control Preventionist will lead and direct the nursing team in the identification and implementation of infection prevention goals and objectives throughout the facility.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current, valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa required.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Previous supervising experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Federal & State long-term care regulations and laws required.
  • CPR certification required.

DUTIES:

Resident Care

  • Observe, assess and report changes in delivery of service to Director of Nursing or Health Services Supervisors*
  • Assess / evaluates resident’s needs on a continuing basis. *

 

Infection Control

  • Assist with the orientation and training of all Nursing Department employees as the need arises. *
  • Coordinates the infection control program for the Nursing Department and other departments as requested. *
  1. Implement an Exposure Control Plan for all Departments and ensure compliance with it and governmental standards. *
  2. Develop a system of Exposure Control checks and monitors findings for prompt compliance. *
  3. Investigate all incidents of exposure to blood and/or potentially infectious body fluids and all incidents of non-compliant staff under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services or Executive Director. *
  4. Observes and monitors weekly: *
  1. Decubitus care and treatments on residents. *
  2. Document according to Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community protocol. *
  1. Chairs all infection control meetings, coordinate and implements committee recommendations. *
  2. Trains facility personnel in the following areas: *
  1. Exposure Control Plan*
  2. Infection Surveillance Reports*

Troubleshoot and correct problems related to the network and related hardware or software. Install, maintain and upgrade software as needed. Assist with research on technology as needed or directed. Administration of email and monitoring of usage. Add / delete users to the network as appropriate. Provide training to educate employees where needed. Act as a liaison for users or software providers. Assist with implementing network security, including setting up firewalls. Assist with maintenance of anti-virus and malware protection to keep the network safe from hackers and viruses. Understand how to perform regular backups of the servers, safeguard data storage and recover lost data as necessary. Ensure security with HIPAA regulations related to EPHI (electronic protected health information) by administration of applicable policies and internal audits. Respond to emergencies on an “on-call” basis according to schedule or to help cover vacations of others in the department.
Qualifications:
. Degree in an information technology related field or related experience

Responsibilities:
The lead housekeeper for 2nd shift is a management support role. Prioritizing and communication with the Team Leader are essential components of this position. Responsible for all aspects of cleaning, including mopping, dusting, washing beds, hanging drapery, washing windows and sills, making beds, vacuuming, sweeping floor, emptying trash cans, replacing supplies. Responsible for all aspects of maintaining and cleaning nurse stations, utility rooms, and common areas including public restrooms, lounges, entrances to building, stairwells, locker room, chapels, dining rooms, recreation room, exercise room, and physical therapy in a scheduled time frame. Responsible for ensuring resident rooms are ready for new residents in a timely manner. Work with other departments to perform cleaning in such a way as to be the least disruptive to resident care. Monitors checklists and cleaning schedules as needed. Fulfills all assignments given from Team Leader, and helps create a list of priorities for the arrival of the next shift.
