Dear Residents, Staff, Families and Supporters,
As we think about Thanksgiving, we typically think about all the smells of a well-prepared meal, family or friends gathering around the table, and bowing our heads in gratitude.
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful, but we most certainly do not have to confine this to a single day of the year or just sharing gratitude with family. Not everything is perfect in our lives or those around us, at Bartels or in the United States. However, sharing gratitude and thanks is a practice which can enrich our lives and the lives of those around us. It is also a good time to remember and show compassion to those who have lost a loved one, lost a job, do not have family, or have a new health concern. We can count our blessings for what we do have, recall God’s goodness, and cultivate a year-round attitude of gratitude we share with others every day.
I want to thank all of our staff for their compassion with the residents and their families. The workforce shortage makes me especially grateful for every single one of you and for making the commitment to our residents. I want to thank all of the residents who are a part of our community and become like family, and all of our supporters who make what we do possible.
The team at Bartels is grateful to communicate we are taking off our masks for the holiday season! As usual, we will communicate if there are changes that need to be made. This will make eating pie and sharing smiles much easier!
I want to personally thank dining services for the time and attention to the holiday meal on Thursday. We are grateful to have enough dining staff and cooks so the residents, families and staff can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together! For those of you here on Thanksgiving, please enjoy!
Lastly, I wish you all a blessed holiday and am sharing the holiday prayer below with you……
Sincerely,
Paula Geise
Dear God,
Thank you for your amazing power and work in our lives. Thank you for your goodness and for your blessings over us. Thank you for your great love and care. Thank you for your sacrifice so that we might have freedom and life. Forgive us when we don’t thank you enough, for who you are, for all you do, and for all you’ve given. Help us to set our eyes and our hearts on you afresh. Renew our spirits, fill us with your peace and joy. We love you and we need you, this day and every day. We give you praise and thanks, for You alone are worthy! In Jesus’ Name, Amen. – Debbie McDaniel, Crosswalk.com Contributor
