Dear residents, staff, families and supporters,
Last week a group of leaders from Bartels attended the Leading Age Iowa conference and we learned a lot about how we are all aging. Yet, aging is something we do not like to talk about or discuss. It is important to remember it is happening to all of us and we all want to age our own way! The conference also shared information about workforce, technology, finances, diversity, governance and regulations. The reason I am sharing this with you is because Bartels leaders and team members will remain committed to looking forward to the future with high standards and a culture of caring and connections.
This week is National Skilled Nursing Care Week and the theme is “Creating & Nurturing Connections.” As people, we have a desire to connect and these relationships between staff and residents and families and coworkers are what help drive healthy work places, and high level quality care. We are celebrating our staff with fun activities, drawings, and some exciting announcements throughout the week! There will be a staff picnic Thursday (outside – yay, as there is warm weather and sun predicted!) from 10 am – 2 pm. The full list of activities will be included on Facebook, however throughout the week you may see some crazy hair, a food truck, fun shirts, snacks and lots of laughter!
Sunday was Mother’s Day, we were open to visitors and paid a special tribute to all moms. Bartels held a great Mother’s Day program last week. Check out our Facebook page for pictures.
The community transmission rate for Bremer County continues to climb. It is in the orange or substantial rate, but visitation remains open. Bartels is required to educate people on the transmission rate, and everyone is required to wear a mask. We are testing twice a week and at this time there are no staff or residents who have tested positive. Please do not visit if you do not feel well. There will be one additional Covid booster clinic Tuesday, May 10, 9:30-11:30 am in the Eichhorn Haus dining room.
I hope everyone connects with someone in a special way this week ….. a mom, nurse, coworker, staff member, friend or family! This too will add a little sunshine to your day!
