Dear Residents, Staff, Families and Supporters,

The sunshine we have had for a few days has been appreciated by all and some of the residents enjoyed getting outside for walks and wheelchair rides! I believe residents and staff alike are very ready for warmer weather ahead! As one resident said, “We need to wash off a bit of the winter!”

The Covid status in the building is in good shape currently. There were no new identified Covid cases with the most recent testing this week. All residents in Evergreen Arbor and Woodland Terrace have been recovered.
Final testing, as required, will be Monday, March 27. When we have those results and if there are no new cases identified, we will open back up to cross-floor activities and normal worship services and overall operations. I will communicate our status based on those test results and the community transmission rate and what it means in regard to wearing masks.

Our staff participated in an employee survey and there was a challenge to get 70 percent participation. The goal was reached and staff voted for a taco party. This will be in honor of their commitment to providing feedback which will continue to make Bartels the best place possible. Congrats to all staff and please know I am reading every comment!

This week I traveled to the State Capitol to lobby for increased Medicaid reimbursement, discuss workforce and regulations. It was time well spent and good timing in the legislative cycle.

The public health emergency due to Covid is set to end May 11. We are monitoring and anticipating additional changes with this and will continue to communicate.

Watch for more details about Palm Sunday and Easter in our next communication.

Peace be with you,

Paula Geise, RN, MSN, CEO
