Dear Residents, Staff, Families and Community Supporters,
As we celebrate our 70th anniversary, it is hard to believe the year is half over! The staff kicked off the celebration with a meal and special 70th anniversary t-shirts. We continued to celebrate at Concert in Kohlmann and last week’s Bartels outdoor concert with the Greater Waverly Municipal Band, which were both a success. Please watch for us in the Heritage Days parade and upcoming opportunities to celebrate with us!
Our annual survey through the Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIAL), followed by the State Fire Marshal survey, happened in June. Both surveys went extremely well. The surveyors were complimentary of the well taken care of campus, resident care and activities, as well as food services. Our residents and staff are the primary focus, so it is important for us to protect the health, safety and well-being of everyone. The surveyors reported Bartels is in the top 10% of high-performing facilities in the state. There were no fines during the survey process.
The Centers of Medicare and Medicaid have a rating system for the facility’s quality and staffing metrics. In recognition of Bartels becoming a 5-star facility, we hosted a staff picnic with 5-star cookies!
Our goal is to provide care for as many individuals as possible who are in need, but also maintain a high quality of care. Due to workforce challenges and regulatory oversight, proactive communication with our admissions team is necessary as we continually evaluate the number of residents we can accept.
Our assisted living memory care in Aspen Cottage is now full. Like all areas, I suggest to people to schedule a tour and get your name on the list before the need becomes urgent. This allows for you, your loved ones and our staff to set up an individual plan.
Anna Estates, the new development north of Eisenach Village is going well! This is a 55-plus active living neighborhood consisting of duplexes and single-family homes. The concept of the homes allows individuals to age in place with a decreased risk of fall and care-free living.
Bartels is a continuous care retirement community with multiple living options and price points to meet individual needs. We have purchased the Carey School with the intent to develop additional housing. It is a great location close to community amenities. The following months will allow us to do a complete evaluation with experts to determine next steps.
As we celebrate the 4th of July with friends and family, I would like to take the opportunity to thank our staff, leadership team and the community for your on-going support of Bartels and our residents.
God Bless America and the Bartels community!
