Good Friday and Easter is a good time to reflect. It was two years ago on Good Friday, Bartels had its first Covid case. It truly was not a good Friday! Who would think we would still be talking about the pandemic going into year three? Bartels has pulled together with many good changes and added services as a result of the situation. I am sure the team overcame things they never thought they could. I am extremely proud of the other leaders and staff. I feel grateful to know and care for our residents and it is humbling the amount of board and community support the organization has and still receives.
Here is an update for this Good Friday:
- The community transmission is at a moderate transmission, and testing will be once a week on Mondays from 2-4 pm. There are no residents or staff with Covid currently.
- Church services will run as regularly scheduled and visitation is open. It is still a federal requirement to check-in and wear a mask in Woodland Terrace. For Assisted Living and Independent Living, residents and families will each make their own decisions on what is right for them.
- There will be 2nd Booster Clinics held April 28 and May 5. Additional details will be announced.
- The Annual Meeting with our corporate churches will be held April 24 at 2 pm in the Chapel.
Workforce has been a struggle. The pandemic has not been easy for staff to navigate and now gas prices are very high. Due to this, the Board of Directors, the leaders and I would like to recognize all of our dedicated staff with a gas card to relieve some of the burden as they truly are an Easter Blessing!
A 19th century poet and author Margaret E. Sangster wrote, “The festival of Easter comes to us at a propitious time, for lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth, the time of the singing of birds has come,” she wrote. (She didn’t say anything about the wind!)
Those who observe Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, may want to honor this momentous holiday with a special Easter blessing or passing on an Easter wish to others.
Here is my Easter wish to all of you….
“May God bless you at Easter and keep you all year through. May God give you all the faith you need, to make your dreams come true.” — Irish blessing, author unknown
Have a Blessed Easter!
