Waverly, IA; Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community hosted its annual employee recognition event on May 14, 2013 at the Elizabeth Ballroom on the Wartburg Campus. The theme, Celebrating Bartels’ Super Heroes, emphasized the importance of each role the Bartels staff plays in enhancing the lives of Bartels residents. Larry Trachte, guest speaker, inspired employees to go the second mile in caring for aging seniors, to recognize the individuality of each resident, to be sensitive in their care for others and to be encouragers as they serve the Bartels mission. He acknowledged the opportunities that every person has to be a Super Hero in making Life Good for Bartels residents!
Employees honored included the following: 5 Years: Debbie Bilharz, Barb Bridges, Charlene Bruns, Danielle Clayton, Amy Gomez, Karen Graeser, Heather Harrington, Phyllis Kapler, Desiree Perez, Jane Reynolds, Cheryl Sherburne, Jessica Sherburne, Crystal Spencer, Sara Sutton, Janet Vobr, and Londa Wilhm / 10 Years: Ryan Gulick, Mildred Liddle, and June Meyer/ 15 Years: Viann Clancy / 30 Years: Karla Happel. Employees serving over 20 years include: Ona Brandt, Carol Brown, Gary Carlson, Roxanne Gebhard, Kathryn Harn, Joann Myers and Janet Waidelich. Linda Hirsh, Bartels longest serving employee, has served Bartels for over 30 years.
Bartels, founded in 1954, is a non-profit, Continuing Care Retirement Community. Woodland Terrace, a 126 bed Community, serves long-term nursing residents and skilled/rehabilitation patients.
